Nintendo DS is the follow up to the Game Boy. It was first released in 2004. The DS is distinct for its two seperate LCD screens, the bottom of which being a touch screen. All DS models offer stereo sound, built in wi-fi and a built in microphone. All DS consoles are backwards compatible with Game Boy Advance games.

The DS Lite was released in 2006. This slight redesign was a physically slimmer model with brighter LCD screens.

In 2008 a third redesign, the DSi was released. This version of the DS offered better hardware. An SD Card slot took the place of the Game Boy Advance slot.

A year later the DSi XL came out. This model is physically bigger and has 2 much larger LCD screens than any other DS models.
